I am super excited about doing this INDIE REVIEW on THE RED TEN!!! So, this book has been on my RADER since ISSUE 1. I met Tyler James at Wizard World Boston around 2011 and he introduced me to THE RED TEN. He told me that his plan was to make a 10 issue mini-series of THE RED TEN. I remember laughing at him and saying “You really plan on doing a 10 issue comic as an indie publisher? That isnt gonna happen buddy” Tyler smiled at me and said “Yup, we already have issue 2 complete and working on issue 3” He then introduced me to Ceaser Feliciano (The Artist). I listened to the pitch of what is someone was to murder the JLA. He explained that The Red Ten is a superhero spin on Agatha Christie’s classic whodunit And Then There Were None. That was a book that was close to my heart since it was required reading for my 5th-grade class and I have fond memories of trying to find out who is the killer was in our class. It was at that moment that He sold me the first issue of THE RED TEN!! I then spend the NEXT 6 YEARS waiting for each issue to come out!!! I would often buy the same issue twice because I was worried that I didn’t have it. However, finally, the TRADES for VOLUME 1 AND VOLUME 2 are collected!!
I personally love this story it has a vibe of WATCHMEN and THE DARK NIGHT RETURNS mixed with the traditional super-hero tale. When Red (The Batman Type Character) is violently murdered by her nemesis, the Oxymoron, the nation’s foremost super team, and her former sidekick band together to bring the villain to justice. However, the mission goes terribly wrong, and before the night is out, each of the ten “heroes” will pay dearly for there past transgressions.
This book has a lot of heart and Its one of my favorite indie comics. This is within my TOP 10 SMALL PUBLISHER BOOKS!! I am so excited that this is available for everyone who hasn’t seen or heard of this book. This book is GRITTY, TWISTED and FUN!!! I love this book and it comes with my highest reccomendation.
